Joseph “Joe” Reinke, age 39 of Mountain, and his wife Becca, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 26, 2020.
Joe was born in Shawano on February 20, 1981 to the joy of his parents, Rodney and Kathryn (Steenbock) Reinke. The oldest of three children, he was a great older brother and took his younger brother under his wing and allowed his little sister to tag along as well. They shared a very special sibling bond and true friendship. He attended St. James Lutheran School, where he was also baptized and confirmed his faith in the Lord. He was a 1999 graduate of Shawano Community High School where he especially enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. Joe went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh School of Business. Joe worked at US Bank for many years as a loyal employee. In 2008 he met his future wife Becca, and their personalities complimented each other’s perfectly. On May 16, 2015, Joe was united in marriage to Rebecca “Becca” Powers at St. Mary’s of the Lakes Catholic Church in Lakewood. When they moved to Lakewood Joe built on his love for woodworking and started his own business as a general contractor, Reinke Painting and Home Improvement. Joe loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, and fishing with his dad, brother, cousins, and in-laws with whom countless memories were made in the Nicolet National Forest, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and Canada. He enjoyed remodeling his home, watching sports, boating, ice fishing, snowmobiling, playing in volleyball, horseshoe, and pool leagues with Becca, and time spent with family, friends and their beloved black lab Toby. His childlike love for life and sense of humor served him well as a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. If you got to know Joe you were the lucky one. He was quiet, humble, and gentle on the outside. Joe’s wit, wisdom, kindness, loyalty, selfless giving, level-headed and compassionate insight are what made having a connection with him so special. He had a genuine smile, a contagious laugh, and was focused on helping others, always seeing the good in them. Joe and Becca lived a full life in a short time. Their life was full of happiness and enough memories to last a lifetime for the beloved family and friends that they leave behind.
Joe is survived by his parents, Rodney and Kathryn Reinke of Shawano; brother, Mark (Brittany) Reinke of Shawano; sister, Amy (Andrew) Hartman of Cross Plains; nephew, Hudson Reinke; niece Emery Reinke; niece and goddaughter, Charlie Mae Hartman; aunt, Sherry Frost of Clintonville; uncles, Steve (Holly) Reinke of Clintonville, Doug Steenbock of Green Bay, and Dan (Carrie) Steenbock of Appleton; mother-in-law, Karen (Dave) Kerber of Shawano; and father-in-law, Tony (Ginger) Powers of Mountain. He is further survived by several close brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews including goddaughter, Dani and godson, Jameson, cousins, and friends. He was joined in death by his wife, Becca and their dog, Toby. He was preceded in death by grandparents Edwin and Joan Reinke and Henry and Doris Steenbock, as well as numerous great aunts and uncles.
