Reinert, Harlow C.

Harlow C. Reinert, age 91 of New London, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at ThedaCare-Appleton with family by his side.

Harlow was born on July 24, 1929 to Harold and Martha (Ponzer) Reinert in New London, WI. He was confirmed on August 29, 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush. On June 27, 1953, Harlow was united in marriage to Ellen M. Schweitzer. At age 17 Harlow had received his private pilot license. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on June 17, 1947. Harlow served for three years as a Jet Fighter Engine Air Craft Mechanic on the Islands of Japan, Korea, and Okinawa before his discharge on June 27, 1950. Following his discharge, he was employed at Plywood in New London, the Co-op in New London where he delivered gas and fuel, and lastly, at Hillshire Farm until his retirement in 1991. Harlow enjoyed small engine work in his garage all of his life. He loved flying his plane and riding his Harley. He had a special love for his grandchildren, great-grandson, Owen, and his dogs, Twiggy and Button.

Harlow is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ellen; son, Gerald (Lori) Reinert; daughter, Deborah (Daniel) Flease; grandchildren, Jessica Flease, Danielle (Chris) Berns, Jason Flease (special friend Amanda and her daughter, June), Tara Reinert (special friend Jeremy), and Dustin (Kristin) Reinert. He is further survived by his sister, Rojean DeWitt; sister-in-law, Sandy Schweitzer; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Harlow is preceded in death by his parents; many aunts and uncles; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pete DeWitt, Lucille and Alfred Strauss, Jim and Jeanette Oashger, Leroy and Ruth Peterson, Harold and Rita Schweitzer, and Frank Schweitzer.

The funeral service for Harlow will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London, with Pastor Mark Tiefel officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in New Maple Creek Cemetery, Township of New Maple Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Emanuel Lutheran Church. Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London is serving the family. www.clinehansonfuneralhome.com
