Daniel K. Hedtke age 89, New London, passed away at his residence following a brief illness on Friday, May 28, 2021.
He was born on October 19, 1931, in Wild Rose, son of the late Daniel and Edith (Dain) Hedtke. He attended and graduated from Washington High School, New London. Dan served his country from 1951-1954 in the US Air Force, serving in Korea for one year. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. On March 9, 1991, he was united in marriage to Delores Becker, she preceded him in death in 1994. Dan was a Union Carpenter for many years for Boldt Construction retiring in 1993. In his later years, he enjoyed selling Christmas trees at Grandpa Dan’s Tree Farm on Bean City Road in New London.
He is survived by his sons, Brian (Colleen) Hedtke, Knoxville, TN, and Alan (Theresa) Hedtke, New London; grandchildren: Nichole (Nick) Proctor, Bradley (fiancé Stevie) Hedtke, Abby (Jason) Heinritz, Samuel (Alicia) Van Alstine, and Anna Van Alstine, Amanda Lottmann, Jessica Martzahl, and Rachel Martzahl; great-grandchildren: Kylie, Vince, Liam, Lorilei, and Micah; siblings, Leslie (Mildred), Wallace, Gaylord (Dorothy); sister-in-law Delores; mother of his children Marlene (Elfe) Hedtke; son-in-law Joe (Lori) Van Alstine. He is further survived by other relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dee, daughter Lori, siblings, Arnold, Henry, and sisters-in-law Evelyn and Ruby.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Full military rites will be held following the funeral. www.clinehansonfuneralhome.com
