Helen I. Behnke, age 81, of Clintonville passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Care Partners Assisted Living, Clintonville.
The former Helen Ileen Springsteen was born on March 21, 1940, in Milwaukee to Joseph and Dorothy (Pierce) Springsteen. She grew up in the Milwaukee area and in her early days worked for an airline company and at a local green house. She was united in marriage on June 3, 1961, to Charles Dimick and the couple were blessed with four children. They lived in the Milwaukee area until moving to Iola in the late 1970s. She was employed for some years in Iola as a cook at the Golf Course and then worked in the bakery at the IGA Grocery Store. Her husband Charles preceded her in death on August 21, 1988. Helen was married on May 28, 1992, to Leonard Behnke and they lived in Rosholt. Then she put gift baskets together at Figi’s production line in Plover for a number of years, retiring in 2006. Helen’s second husband Leonard passed away on December 16, 2008, and she settled in the Clintonville area in 2016. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, Rosholt. Over the years, Helen volunteered with numerous church activities and liked helping with quilting projects. In her younger years, she enjoyed archery, camping, and fishing trips with the family. Her other interests included gardening and dancing. Helen worked hard, played hard, and was always determined to accomplish any task. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include four children, Kenneth Dimick of Florida, Christine (Paul) Trinkner of Ontario, Canada, Paul (Kimberley) Dimick of New Richmond, and Mark (Sara) Dimick of Marion. There are 12 grandchildren: Rachelle and Tessa Dimick; Desiree, Joshua, and Jacob Trinkner; Austen, Matthew, and Elizabeth Dimick; and Exavier, Payton, Angelica, and Hannah Dimick. There are eight great-grandchildren: Alexis, Lukas, Olivia, Langdon, Jonah, Isabelle, Ashton, and Devin. There are four brothers: Harold (Carol) Springsteen of East Troy, Jim (Judy) Springsteen of East Troy, Ken (Steph) Springsteen of Wauwatosa, and Richard (Brenda) Springsteen of Florida. She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Dick Polcyn of Ohio: and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and a sister Marge Polcyn.
Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 21st at 5:00 p.m. at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, with Rev. Michelle Klemp officiating. Inurnment will be at Alban Lutheran Cemetery in Rosholt. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
