Young, Betty J.

Betty J. Young, age 90, of Clintonville passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Care Partners Assisted Living, Clintonville.

The former Betty Jane Geiger was born at home on July 29, 1931 in the Town of Cicero, Outagamie County, to John and Lillian (Daelke) Geiger. As a young girl her family moved to Appleton. She worked for some time at Zwicker Knitting Mill in Appleton. Betty was united in marriage on September 3, 1949 to Vernon D. Young at St. Edward Catholic Church, Mackville. The couple lived one year in Twelve Corners and then moved to Vernon’s family farm in Hortonville where they lived for 23 years. She worked several years at the toy factory in Hortonville. They settled in Clintonville in 1973 and continued farming. Betty worked hard alongside her husband for many years on the dairy farm. Vernon preceded her in death on July 30, 2000. Betty was a longtime member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. In her early days, she liked playing baseball, hide-and-seek, and kick the can. Betty enjoyed playing many of these same games with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting dolls, and working on jigsaw puzzles. Betty always loved helping other people and often drove friends and neighbors around town for all sorts of things.

Survivors include five children: Allen (Cindy) Young, Sharon Blink, Rick Young, Dave (Kathy) Young, and Kevin (Dorothy) Young. There are two daughters-in-law, Susie Young and Penny Young. There are 12 grandchildren: Jeremy (Michelle), Carrie, Adam (Laurie), Brian (Naomi), Chris (Jill), Rachel (Ashley), Brooke (Bryan), Kim (Greg), Benji, Zack, Kyle (Josie), and Ryan (Amber). She is further survived by 25 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer (Bev) Geiger; a close friend, Rose Young; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Larry and Aaron; four grandchildren: Matthew, Michael, Craig, and James; and five siblings: Florella (William) Stephan, Kenneth (Connie) Geiger, Eugene (Amy) Geiger, Roy (Lois) Geiger, and Shirley (Carl) Treichel.

A Private Graveside Service for family will be held at St. Rose Cemetery with Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting with the arrangements. Please go to www.beil-didier.com to sign the online guestbook or to send a card.
