Phillip Charles Kreutzberg, age 34 of Clintonville gained his wings after a long battle with cancer

on July 22, 2022, at 7:22 AM with his family surrounding him.

Phillip was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, on August 4, 1987, the youngest child to Gloria Gaigg. He was raised in Clintonville on a small farm on Highway 156 and raised animals for the fair and to participate in the 4-H Club. He raised goats, horses, rabbits, and chickens. He also adored his childhood rottweiler Sydney. As he grew older, so did his love for dogs. As an adult he also volunteered at Kruzickis Kemo Kritters for 10 years. Phillip attended and graduated from Clintonville High School. He was in German and Spanish club; and was a percussionist in the band, along with participating in ski club and playing tennis.

As a child, Phillip’s friends were very important to him, and during adulthood they became his family. During his childhood he spent tons of time with his friends playing his favorite video games and taking care of his farm animals. Once Phillip graduated from Clintonville High School he got his driver’s license along with his first car, the Green Thunderbird. He was employed for a short time at Arrowcast, Shawano, and also briefly with Seagrave Fire Apparatus, Clintonville.

SGT Kreutzberg joined the U.S Army at 17 and was a 15 Tango Black Hawk mechanic. He went on three overseas deployments to Turkey, Iraq and Kuwait; and he even visited Germany. He served in the Army and the National Guard for a total of 15 years. During his deployment in Turkey, he was diagnosed with a Stage Two Neuroendocrine Tumor that started in his liver. Phillip ended up having many hospital stays during active duty, with his last stay being at Walter Reed, in Bethesda, Maryland over Christmas in 2018. The Wounded Warrior project and the CCU helped him get home to his family and remain on active duty until he finally retired on June 21, 2019.

In Phillip’s short life he never got to be a dad, but somehow he managed to do better than most. He got married to the love of his life Holly A. Hohner on June 21, 2021, and was blessed with two bonus children, Nevaeh and Beau: plus three fur babies, Romeo, Violet and Charli. Even though treatments ruined any chance to have kids of his own. Phillip was an amazing dad to all the kids that needed him, he treated all the kids in his life like his own. Phillip was also an amazing uncle to his nieces and nephews: Eli, Everly, Tucker, Jayden, Kylie, Sawyer, Alonna, and Luna. They all adored him and begged to come visit him. He always made time for them no matter if they wanted to play countless hours of Nerf guns, swimming, or listening to the Hot Dog song on repeat. In reality, Phillip was the biggest kid of them all.

As Phillip grew older, he kept three friends close, they were like brothers to him: Brent, Dustyn, and Matt. His friends are here to remind us today of all the fun times and amazing memories that Phillip made in his time spent with them. Phillips friends weren’t the brightest crayons in the box, but Phillip still managed to love them, no matter the circumstances. Although Phillip’s time was cut short, he still had a major impact on everyone he came across. Even with his smartass attitude, he still managed to charm everybody.

Survivors include his wife, Holly; and two children, Nevaeh (special friend Blayk Rosenau) Krueger of Clintonville and Beau (special friend Aryanna Selle) Cotter of Mooresville, NC. He is further survived by his parents, Ben and Gloria Trantow of Antigo; mother-in-law, Lou Bessette of Clintonville; father-in-law, Michael Hohner of Oshkosh; brother, Andrew (Annette) Kreutzberg of Luxemburg; sister-in-law, Rhonda (Scott) Stueck of Clintonville; two brothers-in-law, Cody Hohner of Oshkosh and Wesley (Ganelle) Hohner of Omro; and many other relatives and friends.

A Prayer Service will be held on Saturday, July 30th at 3:00 PM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Military Honors will be provided by members of the VFW Post 664, American Legion Post 63, DAV Chapter 53, VFW Auxiliary Unit 664, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63, all of Clintonville. Visitation will be on Saturday from 2:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.

We would like to thank all of Phillip’s hard-working doctors, especially Molly Schumacher and Dr. Yao from the Cancer Center. We also want to thank Krystina Putnum – Palliative Care; our nurse Katie Krueger – ThedaCare Hospice; Cassie and Dona – ThedaCare Scheduling; Dr. Nataliya Uboha and the entire cancer team at UW Madison. Finally, we want to extend a huge thanks to everybody that helped care for Phillip over these last rough months … you are not forgotten.

Written with love by your favorite daughter,
Nevaeh
