Helen Ruth Schoohs, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at her home in the Town of Lind.
She was born on June 21, 1923, in the Town of Saxeville, the daughter and only child of the late John and Elsie Kienert. Helen was a lifelong member of Emmaus Lutheran Church in the Town of Lind, where she was baptized and confirmed and also served with the Ladies Aid. On June 18, 1944, Helen married Louie Carl Schoohs at her parents home. Together they farmed in the Town of Lind for nearly 60 years, before he preceded her in death on May 14, 2001. Helen was a farm wife and lived on the farm for 73 years. She loved to watch Little House on the Prairie, and saw each episode several times. She was also a member of the Lynwood Ladies Club.
Helen is survived by a son, Carl (Tammi) Schoohs, Town of Lind; a son-in-law, Art Hallman, Town of Lind; six grandchildren, Alice (Gordon) Peterson, Scandinavia, and their children, Sara (James) Howen; Samantha (James) Hoyord and Steve Peterson (fiance, Blake Spink); Angel (Jim) Drozd, Symco, and their children, Rudy and Evy; Artie (Sherry) Hallman, and their son, Tyler, New London; Amber (Chad) Curtis, Weyauwega, and their children, Reed, Lake and True; April(Adam)Quick, Weyauwega, and their children, Tyson and Zoa; two great-great-grandchildren, Jimmy and Adalia Howen; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene Hallman, and Art’s second wife, Mary Hallman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Emmaus Lutheran Church, N180 County Rd. A, Waupaca. Rev. Kurt Schilling will officiate. Burial will be in Lind Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday at the Lewin Funeral Home in Fremont, from 1-4 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established.
