1951-2020

Michael Gene Durrant passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on February 17, 2020 after a brief, well fought battle with lung cancer. He was born on September 20, 1951.

His grandchildren knew him as Papa, while others called him Doc, Iron Mike or simply, Mike. Michael is remembered for his remarkable dedication to his children and grandchildren. He relished attending functions his grandchildren were involved in. He left this world having been generous to family, friends and strangers alike. He often put the needs of others over his own, with countless stories of him assisting strangers without a second thought. He proved himself extraordinary in this life, being strong and trustworthy. He enjoyed fishing, family gatherings, home cooked meals, shooting the breeze, telling tall tales and drinking a coffee. Michael graduated from Marion High School, and then served as a medic in the US Army. After his service, he married Jaqueline (Clinton) Price, they were married for more than 20 years. Shortly after starting a family, he began his successful lifelong career as a truck driver. Never a person to be idle, post-retirement he worked seasonally for Jaymar in Plover through 2019.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, William and Genevieve (Zywacki) Durrant, brothers Robert Durrant and Dennis Durrant, sister Linda Smith. Michael is survived by his children, Abraham (Paulene Bobbe) Durrant of Plover and Amy Fors of Chippewa Falls; brother Jeffrey (Mary) Durrant of Waupaca; sisters, Sharon Durrant and Sandra Durrant; grandchildren: Aven Durrant-Bobbe, Jaida Fors, Amira Durrant-Bobbe, Adrik Durrant-Bobbe and Atticus Durrant-Bobbe, and dear friend Chuck (Shelly) Martin.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thank you to the Ascension St. Michaels oncology nursing and staff. The care, compassion and comfort given will forever be remembered.

A celebration of life, for family and friends, will be held on Sunday, June 7th from 1-4 p.m. at Standing Rocks Park, 7782 Standing Rocks Rd, Stevens Point WI 54482. A private intenment ceremony will be held at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Our Lord and Savior took our beloved Norman Krueger to be in Heaven with Him on March 4, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Norman was born November 3, 1940 to Edwin and Melda (Liebmann) Krueger. He was baptized and confirmed at Christus Lutheran Church in Clintonville and went to River Bank Grade School and graduated from Shawano High School in 1958. Norman took over the family farm until the boys took over for him.

On May 21, 1961 he married Jane Kriefall and they were blessed with four children: Susie Breutzmann and her significant other, Randy; JoAnn (Daniel) Renel, David (Brenda Hartwig) Krueger, Gerald (Marlow Dorner) Krueger; seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren. Norman is also survived by a sister Glorianne (Jerry) Kuschel, a sister-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, and a sister.

The enjoyable part of his life was setting up the sawmill sawing logs and constructing the buildings from the lumber. Norm could fix anything and everything that was broke, and if it wasn’t broke he’d take it apart and see what made it work and put it back together again. He loved running the 1920 Avery tractor in parades, and truly enjoyed traveling with Jane throughout the United States and Canada; including four trips to Alaska. Norman was a huge outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and just being in the woods. He enjoyed playing accordion, piano, and polka dancing with Jane. Working the family farm with family was never a chore. It was fun to him to be on the fields from dusk to dawn, and thanking the Lord for the rewards. Norm loved his Lord and family, and put all others before him. He instilled in his children to also love and put that trust in the Lord. We will surely miss him in our everyday living, and thank the Lord for blessing us with so many years together.

We also want to thank the doctors and nurses that took such wonderful care of him through the years, including hospice. They were there for us whenever we needed them.

Per Norman’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time but a gathering may be held at a later date. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory assisted his family. www.eberhardtstevenson.com

Morien, William John “Bill”

Bill Morien, 91, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 3, 2020.

Born at home on February 8, 1929 to Phillip and Clara (Roland) Morien, he was a lifelong resident of New London. Dad is the last of his family’s generation and will be truly missed as the historian and story-teller he was (the Leona Mech family historian). Oh, what a detailed memory dad had, as he could tell stories all the way back to when he was a toddler.

Dad is survived by his children: David- New London, James (Patti)- Weyauwega, Peter (Debbie)- Neenah, Elizabeth (Larry) Debruin- Neenah, Mary (James) Ciske- Appleton, Patricia (Paul) Johnson- Appleton, Rebecca (Mark) Barnett- Appleton, Jennifer Morien-New London and Joseph (Charlene)- Santa Clarita, CA and also 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Dad was preceded in death by Patricia, his wife of 68 years; siblings, Phyllis (Dr. Robert) Leitschuh, and James (Joan) Morien; daughter-in-law Pamela “Mergy” Morien and infant grandson Aaron James Morien.

Dad was a 1947 graduate of Washington High School in New London. Just short of his graduation, he unexpectedly lost his own father making him head of the household and putting his college dreams on hold. He learned what responsibility meant at a very young age by taking over his father’s business, creating the fourth generation of Morien Decorators. Dad worked tirelessly to support his own family and subsequently his wife and nine children. Over the years dad became an incredibly talented and self-educated carpenter, interior designer, home builder, painter and artist. He believed there wasn’t a church within a 50 mile radius that he and his crew hadn’t worked on. He was a perfectionist and his attention to detail showed on all he did. He left his children with priceless pieces of furniture he built from raw lumber, which will be our treasures for generations. He had such a love for woodworking he always said he would not live long enough to create what he wanted to do, or for his eldest son to even pronounce the names of the furniture he was trying to build. Dad always had a love of sports and followed the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, NL Bulldogs, and the Neenah Rockets. He was an exceptional trap shooter, hunter and fisherman. He was very active in the community as a member of the Rotary Club, Fish & Game Club, NL Golf Club, Gemutlichkeiters, DDD Club, and was most proud of his 25+ years with the Outagamie-Waupaca Library System (OWLS) where he held the position of President for many years.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the mass. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.

The family would like to thank dad’s doctors and nurses at ThedaCare Hospital, Neenah, and the Rehabilitation Unit at ThedaCare Hospital, the occupational, physical and speech therapists that helped dad through his recovery process. Hospice care was very helpful and compassionate. It will not be forgotten.

David R. Nottleson, age 81, of Waupaca, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

He was born in Iola, WI on March 22, 1938, the son of Roy and Edith (Ernst) Nottleson. He lived on the homestead farm until joining the Air Force. On February 2, 1957, during a major snowstorm, he was united in marriage to Rosalie Paulson. She preceded him in death on July 23, 2015. Dad enjoyed hunting and working in the woods. He was a kind hearted gentle man with an easy going nature and an abundance of patience. Dad had a very close and special relationship with his grandchildren who have many wonderful memories of their time together. He didn’t show his anger much, but if he asked you, “What in the sam hill are you doing?” you knew you were in trouble. Before mom passed they enjoyed camping, hiking and canoeing in the Boundary Waters area. They both loved nature and being outdoors in the woods, watching the loons while canoeing, looking for moose and bears and listening to the wolves at night. Back home in Scandinavia, they enjoyed the deer, raccoons, opossums, birds and any other little animals that came to visit. After they moved to Waupaca, they continued to enjoy the birds that would visit their feeders and nest in their flower boxes. When dad fell and mom became sick, they moved to King where mom passed in 2015. After four and one-half years they are together again.

He will be dearly missed by son, Steve (Dorothy) Nottleson of Green Bay and daughter, Lana (Keith) Reagles of Amherst Junction.
