Rueben Earl Miller, age 69 of Clintonville went to be with his Savior on October 27, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton.
Rueben was born in Clintonville on July 20, 1952 to Franklin R. and Helen Irene Miller (Seelig). He farmed with his dad and his Uncle George for many years, then took over George’s farm when he passed. He was known for his cap and his farmer’s tan and loved his Guernsey cows. He was an avid hunter in his younger years. In his later years, after selling the cows, he kept an array of chickens and incubated his own eggs. It always brought him great joy raising his baby chicks. He was a wonderful father, and he is missed dearly by his children. He left his kids with lasting memories, lessons, and experiences that will live on always. He talked to everyone, always finding a common thread to share a conversation about. He was popular in his neighborhood with the kids of all ages as he talked to them on their level, always friendly and kind. He would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it more. He was Mr. Fix-it, the guy everyone called, because if he couldn’t fix it…he knew where to get it done. Rueben was a jack of all trades; it was incredible what he knew how to do. He always found a way to help anyone who asked. He was extremely hardworking, stubborn, and was always busy doing something; sitting around for long periods drove him crazy, his tenacity was inspiring. No words can ever aptly convey what he meant to so many, but he was an institution in the many lives surrounding him. The world feels a little darker, a little colder today, but the kindness and generosity he bestowed on those of us he loved is his legacy and will go out a hundred-fold into the world.
He is survived by his children, Joshua, Sarah and Stephanie Chmielewski, all of Clintonville; his brothers and sisters, Lee (Jackie) Miller of Marion; brother-in-law, Bob Anderson of Ogdensburg; Carol (Eugene) Begrow of Marion; Judy (Vince) Green of Clintonville; Trudy Miller of Clintonville and Frank (Shannon) of Tigerton. He was particularly close to his nephews, Spencer and Jamie Miller and held a special place in his heart for Spencer’s boy Frankie. He had so much love for all of his nieces and nephews: Jeff, Jason and Lynette, Gina, Kristy and Beaner, Craig, Cody and Tiffany, Vanessa and Zach. He always remained close with the mother of his children, Cherie Chmielewski and his good friends, Dennis Krueger, BJ Shoenig and Knutson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin R. and Helen Irene Miller; his sister Irene Anderson, his niece Makenzie Rose and two infant brothers, Baby Miller and Timmy in childhood.
The family would like to send special thanks to the medical personnel that took care of our dad in the ICU, particularly nurses Hope, Heidi and RN Jensen. We appreciate everything you did for our Dad and we hope that you can find a way to put down the pain and emotion you carry with you as you care for all of these COVID-19 patients and get to know all of these families. You are true heroes.
In lieu of a funeral, there will be a Celebration of Life Service held at a later date. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting the family. Please go to http://www.beil-didier.com to sign the online guestbook or to send a card.
