Fern Rusch, age 85 of New London, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loving family, on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
She was born on May 16, 1938, in Nichols, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Gordon and Lorraine (Lorenz) Marcks. She grew up in the family home located in Murphy’s Stone Quarry in New London. Fern graduated from New London High School in 1956, and her splits, walkovers, acrobatic tricks, school spirit and grace, won her the title of homecoming queen. On November 30, 1957, she was united in marriage to David Rusch. Her early years of marriage were spent in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, where Dave and Fern started their family.
In 1961, they moved back to New London where they raised their four children. She especially loved spending time in the kitchen with her family and babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved shopping, hosting parties, watching her favorite soap operas, and most of all being with her loving family. Fern was a beautiful soul who always saw the good in people and wished happiness for everyone she knew. She was a mother in every sense of the word. She was affectionately known by her family as Mommzie, grammzy, and grandma. She would always have a big smile on her face whenever anyone came to visit. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Dave; four children, Randy Rusch, Kent (Kathy) Rusch, Sheila Rusch, Candace Sanello; six grandchildren, Alyssa Rusch-Laredo, Lauren Rusch (Ben), Logan Rusch, Scarlet Rusch, Isabella Egwuonwu, Cearah Egwuonwu; two great-grandchildren, Gino Canzoneri, and Ruben Laredo. Fern is further survived by a brother, Robert Marcks, and a sister Ginny Peters; two sisters in-law, Dorla Marcks, and Sue Marcks; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dick and Bucky Marcks; a sister-in-law, Joyce Marcks; and a son-in-law, Jude Egwuonwu.
