Madson, Donald L.

Donald L. Madson, age 64 of Ogdensburg, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

Don was born on February 17, 1953 in Milwaukee, to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Knutson) Madson. Don was united in marriage to Cynthia (Schloemer) Van Den Hout on July 11, 2005. Don loved working on his antique tractors and enjoyed going to as many tractor pulls that he could. Don also loved older Mopar cars. He enjoyed watching all the wild life in his backyard. Don grew up in Manawa and had his final home in Ogdensburg.

Don leaves behind his wife Cindy; stepson Eric (Rachel) Van Den Hout, Berlin; daughters, Angela (Leon Jr.) Fietzer, Manawa and Stephanie Madson (Wendall Peeters), Clintonville; grandchildren, Kobe and Kade Kreb, Dawson Van Den Hout, Levi Fietzer, Alex Madson, Nicole and Trisha Schertz and siblings, Gloria (Tom) Mulroy, Rick (Penny) Madson, June Buchholz (Creston Long) and Darlene (Kent) Sherman. Don is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents and stepdad, Joe Nicholson.

Meyer, Russell H. Sr.

Russell H. Meyer, Sr., age 91, of Saxeville, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

Russ was born in Random Lake, WI to the late Theron and Rose (Freimann) Meyer. He graduated from Messmer High School in 1943. On June 30, 1956 he married Ardelle Westen. Russ was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army in the Phillipines for 19 months, for which he was awarded two Bronze Battle Stars. He began working in the automobile business in Milwaukee in 1951 and moved to Saxeville in 1980 where he continued doing business in Saxeville and Wild Rose until retiring in 2009. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. When not in the woods, lake or stream, you’d likely find him playing poker or sheepshead, or riding in his truck, checking out the countryside with his beloved hunting dog. He was a member of the Wild Rose Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited, and Trout Unlimited. He was also a loyal Waupaca Lakemen fan. Russ had a great love for his church. He was an active member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church at which time he served as a trustee for six years, also on the Core Committee for the new church as well as the parish council.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ardelle; children: Russell Jr. (Sue) Meyer of Green Bay, Patricia (Dale) Klapmeier of Duluth, MN and Lisa (Correy) Andersen of Waupaca; grandchildren: Ryan Klapmeier, Blake Klapmeier, Luke (Sara) Behm and Connor Andersen; and one sister, Gloria Zobel of FL. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends, his hunting and fishing buddies, as well as many auction and poker friends. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Theron “Bud” and Edith Meyer and brother-in-law, Robert Zobel.

The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 4 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca, with Fr. Amalraj Roche officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the time of Mass. Full military honors will follow the service at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Julie McDaniel of Synergy HomeCare, Fr. Amal and Fr. Jim Vennix for their spiritual support, Dr. Sletten, Dr. Bob and Sandee Peterson and the ThedaCare Medical Center-Waupaca Inpatient Team. Thank you also to Jacci of Maple Crest Funeral Home for assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in Russell’s name to the Wisconsin Parkinson Association or St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.

Berto, Thomas A.

Thomas “Tom” A. Berto, age 72, New London passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.

He was born on February 10, 1945, son of the late Gordon and Lois Berto. On February 3, 2001, Tom was united in marriage to Edie Coe. He was hired by Waupaca County Sherriff’s Department in 1971, later becoming Deputy Sheriff and retired as a sergeant.

Tom is survived by his wife Edie; children: Ed Berto (special friend Shannon), Royalton; Teresa (Neal) Heimbruch, Manawa; Kathleen (Peter) Solberg, Sparta; Kari (David) Bunting, Marinette; Bobbie Jo Ort, Colorado; and Billie Jo (Joe) Nakashima, Appleton; grandchildren: Ronald R.T. Berto; Devin (Sean) Kanaman; Shandel (Steve) Schantner; Kassandra Kietzmann; Kaitlyn and Keagan Solberg; Alex, Sebastian, Konner and Chasity Bunting; Declan Van De Yacht, Dominik and Wyatt Nakashima; great-grandchildren, Wesley, Shelby and Heather; siblings: Arn (Helen) Berto, Sturgeon Bay; John (Shawn) Berto, Michigan; Donna (Larry) Hansen, Waupaca; Karen (Sanford) Straw, Waukesha; and Rhonda (Todd) Utermoehlen, Tennessee and a sister-in-law, Robin Berto. He is further survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gordon “Skip” and Kenneth (Andrea).

Kathryn “Kathy” J. Miller, age 49 of Manawa, passed into eternal life on October 28, 2017, at Dycora Transitional Health in Beaver Dam, WI.

Kathy was born on August 30, 1968, in Waupaca, WI, the daughter of David and Janice (Rasmussen) Miller. She resided at Bethesda Lutheran Home in both Watertown and Brandon, WI. Kathy was an extremely happy person who loved family, giving hugs and taking rides with Daddy.

Kathy is survived by her parents; siblings, Karen (Wes) Thompson, Kevin (Elizabeth) Miller, Karl (Emily) Miller, Krisann (Benjamin) Marcy, Kandyce (Ricky) Perez, and Katrina (Patrick) Niles; and nieces and nephews, Breanna (Eric) Brolin, Stephanie Thompson, Noah, Jonah, Micah, and Elijah Miller, Alex, Christian, and Abby Marcy, Lucé, Anastasia, and Ezekiel Perez, and Isaiah, Addyson, Emma, and Nora Niles. She is further survived by her great-niece and nephew, Isabel and Azariah Lukinov; many aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Kathy is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edwin and Esther Miller; and maternal grandparents, Harold and Violet Rasmussen.

The funeral service for Kathy was held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2017 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Manawa, with Rev. Nathan Reichle officiating. Family and friends were invited to gather directly at church Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial is in Union Cemetery, Symco, WI.

The family would like to thank all of Kathy’s caregivers that showed her tender, loving, sincere care throughout the years. There are too many to list, but all played a special role in Kathy’s life.

Otto, Wayne R.

Wayne R. Otto, 86, of Middleton, Wis. died at home on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.

Wayne was born in the village of Fremont on October 22, 1931. He graduated from Weyauwega high school in 1949 and from UW River Falls in 1953. He volunteered for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, served for two years (1953-55), and then taught high school English in New Richmond and Brillion for three years before completing masters and PhD degrees at UW Madison. He held faculty positions at both the University of Oregon and the University of Georgia before returning to Wisconsin in 1965. He retired from UW Madison in 1995.

Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Diane Hammer; daughter Eleni Otto (Greg Arnold); brother Roger Otto (Joan); nephews Tim and Luke Otto, and former wife Shirley Bergen.

Kruzicki, Dennis A.

Dennis Allen Kruzicki, 64 of Bear Creek, WI died peacefully at ThedaCare-Appleton on Friday, November 10, 2017, following a 20 year battle with several forms of cancer.

Dennis was born on March 9, 1953 in New London, WI, the son of Nicholas and Helena (Hooyman) Kruzicki. He graduated from Clintonville High School in 1971. On August 2, 2008, Dennis married Jo Ellen “Josie” Brumm on the Embarrass River. Throughout the years Dennis worked at Horky’s Store in Clintonville, Wisconsin Power Company, Schutts Industries and as the owner and operator of several taverns and tile construction companies throughout the area. Most recently he owned and operated Kruzicki’s Kemo Kritters, an alpaca farm. Dennis had a zest for life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, his alpacas, gardening and canning. To those who received a pint jar of his therapeutic salsa, he was known as the “Salsa King.”

Dennis is survived by his wife, Josie; parents, Nicholas and Helena; children, Diana Kruzicki (Jody Rolf), Tracy Kruzicki, Derek (Cora) Kruzicki, Jesse Kruzicki, Brent (Heather) Gall and Kelly Kendall; grandchildren, Reagan, Seth, Davis, Oliver, Parker and Lyncoln. He is further survived by his siblings, Nancy (Richard) Immel and David (Doreen) Kruzicki; father and mother in-law, Lyle and Dawn Brumm; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, friends, and his alpaca kids. Dennis is preceded in death by Rumer Thomas and Sally Kruzicki.

The memorial service for Dennis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bear Creek, with Rev. Aric Fenske officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London, Thursday evening from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and directly at church Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Dr. William Conkright and the staff at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology as well as the 7th Floor nurses at ThedaCare-Appleton for the incredible, tender care shown Dennis throughout his illness.

Nygaard, Duane C.

Duane C. Nygaard of Wisconsin Rapids died on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau following a brief illness.

Duane was born at home to Carl and Sadie Nygaard of Scandinavia, Wisconsin on October 14, 1937, the fourth of six children raised on the family dairy farm. He was baptized and confirmed at the Scandinavia Lutheran Church and graduated high school in 1956. In 1961 he earned his Bachelor of Science degrees in both Mechanical and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On January 21, 1961, Duane married his sweetheart, Valerie Jeanne Suits of Waupaca, Wisconsin. They began married life in Madison where he completed his studies and moved to Beloit to begin his first job as a product engineer at Beloit Corporation. Two children were born to Duane and Valerie, Beth and Pete. In 1966, Duane and Valerie moved to Wisconsin Rapids where he began work as an engineer at Consolidated Papers. Over the decades they restored their turn-of-the-century home on Fourth Street where they raised their children. Duane retired from Consolidated in 1998. Throughout his life Duane was an active volunteer in the community serving with Ministry Homecare, Wood County Transportation, Aging and Disability Resource Center, First English Lutheran Church, and the Salvation Army. Duane restored two 1929 Ford trucks and a 1946 John Deere LA tractor and was a talented woodworker and creative home handyman. Duane relished his role as grandparent to his five grandchildren and shared his good humor and exceptional visiting skills with friends and family alike.

Duane is survived by his wife, Valerie and children, Beth Nygaard (Mike Sims) and Pete Nygaard (Sara); five grandchildren, Rebekah, Sarah, and Benjamin Sims and Thomas and Hannah Nygaard,; and siblings, Dolores Knutson, Phillip Nygaard (Phyllis), Bob (Judy) Nygaard, and Carolyn McKenzie; and sister-in-law, Beverly Nygaard. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David Nygaard.

A memorial service will be held at First English Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, November 18 at 11 a.m. with visitation at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Scandinavia Lutheran Cemetery. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Ministry Homecare or First English Lutheran Church.

Whittow, Dorothy “Jeanne”

Jeanne was born in Marshfield, WI on October 10, 1928 to Dorothy (nee Schawartzburg) and Raymond Lang.

She found eternal peace on November 12, 2017 at the age of 89 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was preceded in death by her loving husband George, whom she married on November 29, 1947. She was further preceded in death by her parents, brother James (Jane) Lang, sister Marjorie (Donald) Stern, and brothers-in-law Donald (Alice) and Robert Whittow. Jeanne is survived by and remembered as a loving mom to Brian (Diane) and Claudia Whittow, special Grandma to Emily (Brad) Luedtke, Adam, and Joseph (Alyce) Whittow, and sweet Great Grandma “GG” to Jackson, William, Scarlette, and Addison. She is further survived by brother John (Sharon) Lang and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Mary) and Wayne (Paula), and Shirley Whittow and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by many lifelong friends in Milwaukee, Naples, Florida, and very special Pine Lake neighbors.

Jeanne was a sensitive, artistic-minded woman who enjoyed nature and animals, and was especially skilled at painting rural scenes and portrait settings. She studied at the Layton School for the Arts and became a founding member of Studio 28, a group of talented artists in and around the Milwaukee area. Over the years, she created numerous paintings, working in various media, including acrylics, oils and watercolor. Her work has been shown in Milwaukee, Waupaca, and Naples, Florida. Friends and family looked forward each year to receiving the Christmas cards she created. She also had a passion for collecting and refinishing antiques. Married life in Milwaukee revolved around many years in politics as George served as an Alderman and lobbyist. Jeanne cooked untold batches of food, feeding campaign volunteers that would come and go through her front door. She was active in the PTA and was always the mom invited to go on field trips, especially since she would pick up anything to show the kids, whether it was snakes, toads, or bugs. She enjoyed gardening and butterfly collecting. Jeanne and George were great hosts, and there was always good drinks, good food, laughter and music playing. She will be missed and will continue to bring joy to the hearts of all who knew her.

Sieckert, Travis Patrick

Travis Patrick Sieckert of Waupaca, age 26, left us too soon on Saturday, November 11, 2017.

Travis was born June 8, 1991 in Appleton. He was a millwright for Miron. Travis enjoyed his job, hanging out with friends and family, riding four wheeler, duck hunting, fishing, playing Frisbee golf, shooting pool, watching SpongeBob and especially spending time with his nephew, Brogan. He liked music and his blue tooth speaker was like his tail. He liked to make people laugh and had an infectious smile with an unforgettable laugh. He was an old soul who loved his brother and followed in his footsteps. Travis enjoyed traveling and took many beautiful pictures.

Travis will be sadly missed by his mother, Missy Velte (boyfriend Mick Ertl); father, Patrick Sieckert (fiancée, Marcie Terres); stepfather, Aaron Norton; brother, Nick Sieckert (girlfriend Dacia Goetsch) and sister, Pam Sieckert; nephew, Brogan Sieckert; special friend, Nyela Ysquierdo and the girls, Neveen and Nyzenia; Travis’ mom’s side: grandma, Louise Velte; uncles, George and Keith Velte; aunt, Hope (Rick) Swartwout; Travis’ dad’s side: grandma, Joanne Kent; aunt, Lori (Laurie) Sieckert; uncles, Mel (Shellie), Joe and Greg Sieckert; cousins, other relatives and many friends. Zemlock, Jeannette Esther

Jeannette Esther Zemlock, age 98, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on November 14, 2017.

She was born on July 11, 1919 in Kenosha. Jeannette was a devoted Christian. Her life was centered on her love of God and love of her family. Her faith was the guiding force in her life. She also loved nature and animals. Late in life, she became an accomplished painter, choosing landscapes and still life as her subjects. Jeannette was incredibly kind and loving, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. An eternal optimist, she down played the negative and emphasized the positive. This surely contributed to her long life.

She is survived by her daughters: Christine (Bruce) Fenner of Brentwood, TN; Deborah (Bernhard Burgener) Zemlock of Alpharetta, GA; Kathryn Zemlock of Waupaca; son: Peter (Barb Killoren) Zemlock of Bozeman, MT; granddaughter: Erin Fenner of Charlotte, NC; brother: Rev. Rollin Reim of CA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Charles “Charlie” M. Zemlock; her parents, Rev. Edmund and Selma Reim; her brothers, Rev. Robert Reim and Rev. Norbert Reim.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1120 Evans St., Waupaca, WI 54981 or Waupaca Humane Society, 2293 Commercial Dr., Waupaca, WI 54981 A private graveside service will be held at a future date. Friends may stop at Jeannette’s home at 18 Shadow Woods Lane, Waupaca on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 1 until 4 p.m. to share memories and pay respects. Rohloff, John (Jack)

On November 14, 2017, John D. Rohloff was called to heaven to celebrate the 65th birthday of his son, John II.

Jack was born February 27, 1930 to Fredrick and Wilhemina (Schommer) Rohloff in Appleton, Wisconsin. He was graduated from Menasha High School in 1949. After working for the City of Menasha as an Assistant Assessor, Jack became a Journeyman Machinist at the Marathon Corporation. He also shared his knowledge in the field teaching students at Menasha Vocational School during the evening. He then advanced to the engineering department at Appleton Machine Company which later became Valmet. Upon Jack’s retirement in 1995 he bought yet another Harley Davidson, which he continued to enjoy up until last year. He was an avid reader, gardener and community volunteer. He was a friend of Bill W., and as such, introduced generations of people to him throughout the years. On December 28, 2016, Jack earned his 50 year medallion.

He is survived by his loving, devoted wife and best friend, Patricia M. (Blohm) Rohloff. Jack and Pat were married for 66 years and had five children: Lois Gunderson of Sherwood, Wisconsin; John D. Rohloff II (deceased); Linda (Thomas) DeBruin of Pittsburgh, PA; Andrew (Kristine) Rohloff of New London; and Patrick Rohloff of New London. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings as well as his son, John II and grandson, Ben Rohloff.

The family thanks the staff and hospice workers in the Neuro Unit at ThedaCare Neenah for their care, comfort and support of Jack and his family. They are truly angels without wings.

Funeral mass for Jack will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. John. Kleinschmidt officiating. Maxine L. Carew, New London, age 87, the Lord called her home peacefully on November 16, 2017.

She was born on September 18, 1930, daughter of the late Richard Isaac and Arabella (Feller) Thorn. Maxine married Gerald Carew on June 9, 1951 in New London. He preceded her in death in 1998. She was a very helping and giving person. Maxine was a longtime faithful member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She worked at New London Lanes and helped with the Junior Bowling Program.

Maxine is survived by her children: Peggy Carew, Milwaukee; Ken (Sandy) Carew, New London; Patty Moravec, Little Chute; six grandchildren: Keith (Denise) Clegg; Kevin (Tina) Clegg; Kristopher (Kelly) Carew; Kane Carew; Tricia (Dave) Nelson; Sara (Travis) Mashak; nine great-grandchildren: Abby, Aly, Sawyer, Garret, Chance, Isley, Elaine, Stephen and Gracie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Cliff, sisters, Eloise and Lila, a son Mark, a grandson Zac and a granddaughter Megan.

Funeral services for Maxine will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London with Rev. Mark Tiefel officiating. William “Bill” Manny of Waupaca, age 74, passed away peacefully with his family on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

He is now trying to outfish God in Heaven. He was born in Waupaca on March 9, 1943 to the late Walter and Beulah (Woolsey) Manny. Bill was a veteran of the US Air Force “SAC”, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis as a photo interpreter. He married Laura Corrigan on October 12, 1968. He was an electrician at the Waupaca Foundry, owned and operated Chain O’Lakes Taxidermy & Bait, worked at many local golf courses and operated Bill’s Sports, making customized golf clubs. Bill’s favorite job was driving school bus for the Waupaca School District. He had many interests, including Mopars, Golden Retrievers; he had his “Maggie Lu”, Green Bay Packers and fishing.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, Laura; daughter, Dawn Marie (Dean) Cornelius; grandchildren: Josiah, Kortney, Selena and James Jr.; sister, Pam (Bill) Pomerenke; brother-in-law, Jim (Kathy) Corrigan; nieces and nephews: Jason (Wendy) DeGodt, Tracy (Bob) Reimer, Jesse DeGodt, Christina (Dan) Bitner, Andrew (Laura) Corrigan; best friend and fishing buddy, Ken Graef; dog, Maggie Lu, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, James Sr. on January 24, 2013; sister, Nancy (Jay) DeGodt and his in-laws, James and Mabel Corrigan.

The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Maple Crest Funeral Home of Waupaca, with Pastor Jeff Fletcher officiating. The visitation will be on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4 until 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Lind Center Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Barbara A. Schuler, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2017 at ThedaCare Medical Center – Waupaca, WI.

She was born September 9, 1922 to James and Eva (DuMez) Sample in Spring Valley, MN, the youngest of six children. Barb attended schools in Spring Valley, graduating in the class of 1941 as a valedictorian. She attended Luther College in Decorah, IA and played drums in the Luther College Concert Band. Barb also attended and graduated from Northwest Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN. She was then employed as a laboratory technician at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan, WI. When her future husband, Elroy Schuler, returned from WWII to his former employment in Sheboygan, they met and were married on October 6, 1945. Elroy, having been a mess sergeant in the service, wanted to go into the food business. Their first was Valley Café in Spring Valley, MN. The next was Schuler’s Bar in Elkhart Lake, WI and the last was Airport Inn in Waupaca, WI which they owned and operated for 24 years. In 1978, after selling the Airport Inn, being of retirement age, Elroy managed their new home and lawn and provided delicious meals while Barbara returned to the medical field and became an Accredited Record Technician at Riverside Hospital in Waupaca for twelve years. Barbara and Elroy loved to travel and did so at all opportune times. Following Elroy’s death in 1997, Barbara began volunteering at Riverside Medical Center, Wisconsin Veterans Home, Waupaca Library, Waupaca Area Genealogical Society, and the Waupaca Historical Society of which she was a member of the Board of Directors. At this time, she also attended water aerobics five days a week. During the next ten years she went on 22 Elderhostel trips which were very educational. Her final years were spent at Park Vista Retirement Home in Waupaca.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sara (Tom) Daggett; two grandsons, Eric (Jennifer) Daggett and Patrick Daggett; and four great-grandchildren, Khloe Norkett, Alayna Daggett, Reid Daggett, and Sydney Daggett. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eva Sample; her husband, Elroy Schuler; an infant daughter; four brothers, Darrell, Roy, Ivan, and Ralph; and one sister, Virginia Knudtson.

A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. Pastor Bryan Robertson will officiate. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Waupaca Area Genealogical Society or the Waupaca Historical Society. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.


Moe, Elaine B.

Elaine B. Moe, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, Wisconsin on Friday, November 17, 2017.

Elaine was born March 13, 1931 to Leo and Erna Wohlrabe in the Town of Union. She married James A. Moe on November 15, 1947 in Symco, Wisconsin.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 70 years, James; children, Helen (Paul) Wagabaza of Middleton, WI; Sharon (James) Cook of House Springs, MO; Gary Moe of Holmen, WI; Nancy (Joseph) Polakowski of Milwaukee, WI; Dennis (Terri) Moe of Oshkosh, WI, and Carrie (Greg) Mumford of Fond du Lac, WI; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is further survived by her brother, Melvin Wohlrabe; and four sisters, Elna Knickerbocker, Norma Sutton, Lola Beyersdorf, and Jean Much, all residing in Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Wohlrabe; a daughter-in-law, Diana Moe; and a great-grandson, Ethan Moe.

Elaine was a member of the Waupaca Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Most of her life was spent as a homemaker and mother in the Scandinavia and Waupaca area. She enjoyed gardening, canning, trying new recipes, and playing cards. A favorite of all the kids were her homemade cinnamon rolls and cookies. The grandchildren loved her pickles.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, E. 3273 Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, WI. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. to be followed by the memorial service. The Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family.

David O. Roberts, a proud World War II veteran, received his eternal wings on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in King.

He was born on April 1, 1924, in New London, to Oliver and Olga (Christensen) Roberts. Being an April fool’s baby, his birthday was never forgotten. David was drafted into the Army in January, 1943 – he was stationed at Normandy Northern France Rhineland Central Europe for two years. On November 29, 1947, he was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Beattie in Georgia. In his early years he worked road construction for Badger Highway and Murphy Brothers. In 1964, he and his wife Phyllis purchased the London Inn Tavern, on North Water Street in New London. They had a successful eleven years in business. David traveled to numerous World War II Veteran’s reunions with his wife and sisters-in-law Connie and Betty. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often picking them up from school when they got in trouble, and instead of making them do their school work, he took them to buy bait and let them go fishing. He enjoyed wood working, especially with his neighbor Dan Hedtke, on many home remodeling projects. He made many keepsakes for the grandchildren. David volunteered his time at the nursing home in Weyauwega and never hesitated to help someone in need. He was an extremely generous man. He was a member of Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in New London.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Phyllis; children: Marvin (Linda) Roberts, Linda (Brian) Zietlow, Barabara Thayer and Pamela (Donald) Behm; grandchildren: Tracy (Brad) Elsner, Cody Roberts, Stacy (Paul) Bartline, Tammy (Doug) Sorge, Bridgitt (Jim) Dumbleton, Mark Thayer IV, Jeremiah Thayer, Katie (Wade) Wisnefske, Kimberly Polanco; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by three sisters: Phyllis Quaintance, Joyce (Raymond) Voight, Judy Krause; a brother-in-law Lloyd Stern, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law June (Harold) Hutchison; sister Catherine Stern; brothers: Victor, Fritz and George; also brothers-in-law, Donald Quaintance and Tony Krause.

The Christian Funeral for David will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Emanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in New London. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. A visitation for David will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and also from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church until the time of the service.

Mark R. Rolfs, age 61, of Waupaca, WI passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 16, 2017.

Mark was born in New London, WI on December 29, 1955, the son of the late James and Patsy (DeMasters) Rolfs. Mark graduated from Weyauwega High School in May 1975. He worked briefly at Waupaca Foundry and County Concrete, and also worked with Pat Marquardt from whom he learned the skills for his true passion, working with stone. He was very well known throughout the area as owner-operator of Rolfs Stone & Landscaping.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Sidney DaWalt, Plover and her mother, Julie DaWalt, Waupaca; his siblings: Jeanene (Greg) Peterson, Waupaca; Jan Seward, Waupaca; Jill (Ken) Vergauwen, Waupaca; Bryan Rolfs, Weyauwega; Bruce (Kim) Rolfs, Tigerton; Joel Rolfs, Waupaca; Scott Rolfs, Waupaca; Lee (Sheila) Rolfs, Clintonville and Tim Rolfs, New London; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, many cousins, and a multitude of friends, including special friend Elaine Kubisiak, Waupaca. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jamie, Bill and Kurt and a baby sister, Sandra.

A memorial gathering of family and friends will be on Friday, November 24 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a time of sharing at 3:30 p.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Connie J. (Schultz) Dunnihoo, age 47 of Manawa, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at St. Joseph Residence in New London after a long battle with brain cancer.

Connie was born on May 1, 1970 to Steven and Virginia (Meyer) Schultz. She graduated from Little Wolf High School in 1988. Connie was employed at Sturm Foods for many years, until she could no longer work due to her illness. On June 11, 2005 she married Terry Dunnihoo. Connie loved shopping, fishing, riding motorcycle with Terry, listening to Bon Jovi and going to Hodag Country Music Festival, which she started going to in 1998 with her sister Tina.

Connie is survived by her husband Terry; parents, Steve and Virginia Schultz; grandmother, Victoria Schultz; sister, Tina Schultz; nephew, Nicholas Schultz and great-niece, Briar-Rose. She is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Connie is also survived by special friends, Sherry, Pam, Barb, Ann and Tami. Connie was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Allen Schultz; maternal grandparents, Gregory and Rose Meyer and uncle, Michael Besaw.

Private family services will be held for Connie, however; a public gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Cline Hanson Dahlke Funeral Home in Manawa from 4-7 p.m. www.clinehansondahlkefuneralhomes.com
