Kennedy, Gerald Lee

Gerald Lee Kennedy, age 80, of Weyauwega, went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Theda Care Hospital in Appleton.

He was born on August 10, 1938 in Des Moines, Iowa, son of the late Craig and Bernita (Keating) Kennedy. Jerry graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee in 1956. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On January 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Joanne Rasmussen in Wichita Falls, Texas. Jerry was a machinist at Evinrude Motors in Milwaukee for over 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, but he was happiest when he could spend time with his family. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Weyauwega.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne; children: Robert and Nina (Fahser) Kennedy and their children: Craig Kennedy and special friend Krystal Kenke, Nicole (David) Hess and great-grandson Logan Kennedy; Kathy (Rick) Turner and their daughter Mykayla Turner; two brothers: Robert (Karyl) Kennedy and Dennis Kennedy; a sister-in-law, Diane Nelson. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William Grim and Pearl (Claussen); also an infant brother Ronald James Kennedy.

A memorial service for Jerry will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Weyauwega with Sheri Reindl officiating. Burial will be in the Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery in King. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Friday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Presbyterian Church. The Cline Hanson Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega is serving the family.

Schaeffer, Dixie R.

Dixie R. Schaeffer, age 80, Weyauwega, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2019 at Rennes Rehabilitation and Health Center in Rhinelander after a lengthy illness.

Dixie was born July 17, 1938 in Iola, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of the late Alida Marjorie Grulhke (Pope) and Fred A. Grulhke. On May 13, 1967, she married Robert J. Schaeffer and lived in rural Weyauwega until she entered Rennes in 2015. Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; daughter, Sandra; and sisters, Sharon, and Margie. She is survived by her sons: Jerry (Tanis) Schaeffer, Rhinelander, WI and his daughters, Courtney and Keena; John Schaeffer, Madison, and his children, Noah, Heather, and Ashley; Jim Schaeffer, Lexington, KY and his children, Tabitha, Tyler, Emily, Avery, and Katlin; Sandra’s children, Cody, Brooke, and Jason; her sisters, Patricia Gruelke Brown (Merle Brown, deceased), West Plains, MO. and her children Troy, Tracy, and Tara; Denver Algoe (deceased husband Gene) and her children Julie and James; her brother LaVane Gruelke, Hammond, IA and his children, Sheryl, Lance, Russell, and Butch; his late sister Sharon Swadish (Eddy) and children Eddy and Donna.

Dixie enjoyed playing cards, spending time with her cats and dogs, gardening, canning, cooking, watching wildlife, having fun with people and loved to laugh. Her unique laugh always made you smile. While a homemaker initially, she spent several years as home preservation leader in 4H. She later worked for Nelson’s Cottages in King, at the Party Shop in Weyauwega, and as a bar tender at the Midway tavern in Weyauwega.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Hildebrand – Russ Funeral Home, 24 East Davenport Street, Rhinelander, WI 54501 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Deacon Ron Bosi will officiate the memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. A lunch will follow the service at the funeral home. The Cline Hanson Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega is serving the family.

Feltman, Ida Josephine

Ida Josephine Feltman, age 89, of New London passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at ThedaCare Appleton.

Ida was born to the late Guissepe and Margaret Giaimo in Milwaukee on January 28, 1930. She was united in marriage to Meinard Feltman on July 28, 1977 in Mt. Vernon, Il. Ida was an avid bowler and member of the New London Historical Society. She worked in the office at New London Family Medical Center from 1977 until her retirement in 2009. Ida was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and 40/8 LaFemmes.

Ida is survived by her grandchildren, Anthony (Taralee) Williams and Amy Kaempf; daughter, Debby Wanty; sister, Mary Geraci; step-grandchildren: Suzie (David) Helgerson, Barb (Steve) Lee, Linda (Ted) Radtke and Jim (Laura) Feltman; great-grandchildren: Ana, Lucas, Marcus, Logan and Riley and step-son-in-law, Jean (Cindy) Besaw. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and her good friend, Bob Polaske. Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Meinard; sisters, Josie and Annie; daughter, Kathleen (Lyle) Williams; stepchildren, Jim, Joan and Fran and her dogs, Roxie and Ginger.

The funeral service for Ida will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2019 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New London with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Vennix, Reverend James F.

With faith in the Resurrection of Jesus, we offer our prayers for Reverend James F. Vennix who entered eternal life on June 13, 2019, at the age of 88.

Father Vennix was born in Marinette, WI on March 13, 1931 to Henry and Nora (Baeten) Vennix. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School followed by St. John Seminary, Collegeville. He also attended Marquette University, Milwaukee, for graduate studies in education. Bishop Stanislaus V. Bona ordained him to the Priesthood on May 26, 1956 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Green Bay. Father Vennix’s first appointment was Chaplain of the Community Hospital in New London. He then served as Parochial Vicar of St. Philip the Apostle Parish, Green Bay. In 1958, he was appointed Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas Academy in Marinette. He served several parishes as Parochial Vicar including St. Mary Church, Oshkosh, St. Mark Church, Two Rivers, and then Holy Cross Parish, Kaukauna. In 1969, he was appointed Pastor of St. Hedwig Church, Kewaunee, and in 1970, as Pastor of St. Mary Church, Chilton. He also served as Pastor of St. Hyacinth Church, Antigo, and at St. Mary Magdalene Parish, Waupaca from 1983 until his retirement in 2001. During his time in Waupaca, he was in charge of construction of the new church. Father Jim continued to reside in Waupaca after his retirement and was active with the Veterans Home at King. In 1983, Father was appointed Field Advocate of the Diocesan Marriage Tribunal. On several occasions, Father Vennix served as Temporary Administrator of St. Joseph Parish, Wautoma. In 1973, Father Jim chose sobriety and was very active with AA.

Father Jim is survived by nephews, Alan (Rina) Vennix, Houston, TX and David (Clarice) Vennix, Bloomington, MN and nieces, Mikki Melton, Folsom, CA and Norella (John) Urban, S. St. Paul, MN. After the death of his parents and siblings, Father Jim was “adopted” by the Alice Baier Family of Oshkosh. Also surviving are Father Jim’s “adopted” children, Barbara Baier Oshkosh, WI; Bill Baier, Denver, CO and his “adopted” grandchildren Matthew Schoenrock Madison, WI; Jennifer Schoenrock, Oshkosh, WI; Heather Larson, Mount Holly, NJ; Sarah Graham, Denver, CO and Courtney Baier, Denver, CO. Father was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Marguerite (Sister Norella, BVM), Arthur and Henry and his “sister” and best friend, Alice Baier.

The visitation will be on Sunday, June 16, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. There will also be visitation on Monday from 10:00 a.m. – noon. The Funeral Liturgy, expressing our faith and our hope in the promised glory of the Lord’s Resurrection, will be celebrated at noon on Monday, June 17, 2019, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca, with Most Rev. David Ricken presiding. Deacon Robert Precourt will be the homilist. The church is located at N2845 Shadow Rd, Waupaca. Burial will be at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery, Waupaca. Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.

Claassen, James W.

James W. Claassen, age 64 of Weyauwega, WI and Naples, FL passed away Sept. 21, 2016.

Jim and Erna married Sept. 4, 1971, and moved to New London, where they raised two sons. James worked for Larsen Canning Co. He was hired to complete a college course where he obtained his certified Millwright Mechanic License. He worked there for 11 1/2 years. After moving to Florida, Jim worked at Acres Plumbing as a foreman of the warehouse for 8 1/2 years. Jim and Erna have loved Florida for 29 years.

Beloved husband of 47 years to Erna Marie. Survived by two sons, John and Renee, their children, Vernoica, Cavin, Aaron; son Jamin and Jamie, their two girls, Olivia and Bethany.

Graveside service will be held June 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Hobert Cemetery in Weyauwega, WI.

Claassen, Tim

Tim Claassen was born on April 4, 1958 in New London, WI. Tim passed peacefully in his sleep at his mother Linda’s home on Sept. 5, 2018. Tim was 60.

Tim fought a courageous battle with cancer. Tim was a professional body man and a painter on cars.

He is survived by his mother Linda, sister-in-law Erna, nephews, nieces and cousins. Tim was preceded in death by his dad Keith, older brother Jim and ex-wife Sandy, along with uncles and aunts.

Graveside service will be held at Hobert Cemetery at Weyauwega, WI on June 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.

Tracy Lee Murphy was born to Eternal Life Tuesday, June 11, 2019 surrounded by her family and friends at St Elizabeth’s Hospital Appleton, WI.

Tracy Lee (Beckmann) Murphy was born June 22, 1965 to the late Daniel R and Emily C Beckmann in Waukegan, IL. She spent her childhood years in Waukegan, IL until moving to Saxeville, WI in 1976. She graduated from Wild Rose High School in 1983 and was ready for life’s next adventure. She moved to Fond du lac and Chicago for some years to live, made many friends that she cherished, many of them she remained in contact with her entire life. She eventually moved back to the Wild Rose / Waupaca area to live. September 30, 1995, she married her soul mate David A Murphy and settled in Manawa, WI to raise their family. She was very proud of all three of her beautiful children, their accomplishments and the caring young adults they all have become. She thrived on time spent with her husband, children, her family and friends wherever and whenever it could be found. She found her greatest joy in creating memories with her husband and children often traveling with them or spending time with them up North in Pickerel and in Eagle River.

She is survived by her family and friends including: her loving husband, David A Murphy and their three beautiful children, Alex D Murphy, Leslie B Murphy and Riley D Murphy of Manawa, WI. She is further survived by her brother, Joe (Janice) Beckmann of Waupaca; nephew, Joe Jr (Kassandra) Beckmann of Appleton; nephew, Robert (Amy) Beckmann of Appleton; sister, Blair A Olsen of Manawa; nephew, Todd M Olsen of Manawa; father-in-law, William Murphy of Green Bay; mother in law, Kathy (Milt) Alsteen of Pensaukee; grandmother-in-law, Joyce Belongia of Oconto; sister-in-law, Cheryl Sell of Mosinee; nephews, Gavin and Garett Sell of Mosinee; brother-in-law, William (Amy) Murphy of Pittsfield; niece, Dorothy Murphy of Pittsfield. She is further survived by her dear sweet great-niece, Emily and nephew, JJ Beckmann, the beginning of a new generation on her maternal side whom see adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Emily Beckmann, Wild Rose/Wautoma WI; grandparents, Joe and Fern Beckmann, Markesan WI; grandparents, Janell (Ted) Talbot, Glendale CA; George and Auguste Cunningham, Phoenix, AZ; great-grandparents, Rowen and Elise Smith, Dowelltown, TN.

Eunice D. Higgins, age 75 of Embarrass, passed away early Sunday morning, June 16, 2019 at The Pines Post Acute & Memory Care, Embarrass.

Eunice Diane Higgins was born September 10, 1943 in Clintonville to the late Earl and Eleanor (Prahl) Schoenheide. She was raised in the Bear Creek area, worked her early years in Appleton and worked for the Clintonville Community Hospital. Eunice was united in marriage to Robert Higgins at St. Martin Lutheran Church, Clintonville, on January 18, 1964; she lived the rest of her life with her husband in Embarrass. Eunice later worked as a secretary for Torborgs Clintonville Lumber, until her retirement in 2008. She was a current and longtime member of St. Martin Lutheran church, Clintonville. Eunice “small fry” enjoyed spending family time with her children and grandchildren. She coordinated some tremendous Easter egg hunts in her backyard, held some of the best Embarrass parade parties, and always had a “Happy Birthday Jesus” cake every Christmas. Summer camping, trips to Branson, along with other travels were also a must. Her smile and deep caring attitude will be missed, along with her famous pretzel salad.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years – Robert “Bob” Higgins; three sons – Steve (Cindy) Higgins, Richfield; Brian (Jan) Higgins, Freedom; and Todd Higgins, Embarrass; seven grandchildren – Tori (Matt) Posillico, Stephanie (fiancé Jon Russell) Higgins, Jonathon Higgins, Michael Higgins, Allison (Joe) Martins, Erin (Zach Evers) Higgins, and Jackson Higgins; two great-grandchildren – Lennon and Jorah Martins; sister – Joyce Korb; in-laws – Darwin “Nubby” (Shirley) Higgins, Shirley Wilke and Terry (Marge) Hagen; numerous nieces and nephews. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Eleanor Schoenheide; a sister, Delores Kroening; her in-laws, Leon (Ester) Higgins, Charles (Anita) Higgins, Tom Kroening, Orvin Korb, Bonnie Hagen, and a special aunt, Norma Prahl.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at St. Martin Lutheran Church with the Rev. Christian Burg officiating. Inurnment will take place at Graceland Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Eunice’s name are preferred to be directed to the family where a donation will be made at a later date to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Wisconsin for dementia research. Evalie A Trinrud, age 71, of Scandinavia, Wisconsin, passed away June 13, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center, Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Evalie was born in Winnebago County, Wisconsin on March 22, 1948, a daughter of the late Rachel (Otto) and Clyde Jensen. She married Dale Trinrud. They later divorced. Evalie had been a farmer, operating a dairy farm with her husband. She loved her cows, cats, her horse Roxy, her dogs, Maddie and Lily. She enjoyed golfing.

She is survived by children: Karen Thulien, of Iola; Alison (Duane) Dunham, of Waupaca; and Brad (Ruth) Trinrud, of Waupaca; grandchildren: Megan, Jared, and Ryan Thulien; Brandon Nowak and Avery Nowak Jensen and Griffin Trinrud; brother, Duane (Barb) Jensen, of Scandinavia; and sister, Janice (Howard) Schuster. Evalie was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., June 20, 2019 at Glacier Wood Golf Club in Iola. Voie Funeral Home in Iola is handling the arrangements.

Michael Steven Clark, age 68, of Winneconne, Wisconsin went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his residence.

He was surrounded by the loves of his life, Linda Lichtfuss and his loving fur babies. Michael was born on May 22, 1951 in Appleton, Wisconsin to the late Lawrence Clark and Ramona (Gehrke) Tucker. In his younger years he worked in the auto industry at Benteler Automotive for 11 years in Galesburg, Michigan and also for Pacific Lumber for 17 years in Fortuna, California. Michael was always grateful for his family, friends and co-workers. Michael was true to himself and his belief in the apostolic faith. He always gave of himself for the benefit of others from his time working at the Salvation Army to his dream job of working for the Green Bay Packers. A big love of Michael’s life were all of his fur babies that he cared for and they were all considered his family. In addition to his fur babies, Michael and Linda enjoyed going to auctions, going on road trips, the Green Bay Packers, and helping anyone in need.

Michael is survived by: his fiancee’, Linda Lichtfuss; two sisters, Candace (George) Clark-Dorr and Tina (Kim) Tucker Phelps; aunts, Dorothy Krueger, Loretta (Frank) Kern, and Janet (Albert) Jenks; nieces, Michaela Dorr, Micah Dorr, Tia (Dan) Odell, Tarin (Alex) Messenger; nephew, Ben Weststrate, Chris Weststrate and his fiancee’ Christina, Alex Weststrate; one great-niece, Addison Messenger; one great-nephew, Brenan Weststrate; in addition he had many cousins that he loved and a special friend, Kathleen Goodacre. He was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, Coral Lynn Weststrate; aunts and uncles, Robert Krueger, Lorene and Rudolph Sedlac, Adelyn and Wilmer Gehrke and a niece, Emily Weststrate.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Little Wolf Cemetery in Manawa, WI with Rev. Reichle officiating. In lieu of flowers, Michael’s wish was for donations to be made to Green Lake Animal Shelter and Shawano Humane Society.

Michael and Linda wish to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and love sent to carry them through this journey. A special thanks to the caregivers and the best neighbors anywhere.

Harold H. Spiegelberg, age 97, of Weyauwega went to his heavenly home on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Bethany Home in Waupaca.

He was born in Dale, Wisconsin on January 28, 1922, son of the late Louis and Amelia (Bigalke) Spiegelberg. On October 9, 1956, he was united in marriage to Hattie Togstad. She preceded him in death in 2007. Harold farmed in the Town of Royalton for many years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin’s Mill.

He is survived by his daughters, Sandy Vestal and Bonnie Martin; grandchild, Paula Wilby; step-grandchildren, Veronica (Randy) Johnson, Richard (Deanne) Togstad; a great-grandchild, Amanda Heath; step-great-grandchildren: David, Adam, Emily, Nathan, Tyler, Alex and Jennifer; a sister, Ruth Montgomery. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Louis (Esther), John (Lorena), and Carl (Olethea); two sisters, Jeanette (George) Wegener and Lorraine Steibs; step-grandchildren, Tanna Togstad and Jeffrey Togstad.

The funeral service for Harold will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin’s Mill at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 with Rev. Roger Nielsen officiating. Burial will be in Baldwin’s Mill Cemetery, Town of Royalton. A visitation for Harold will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Berg, Berger

June 29, 1922 – May 5, 2019

Berger was born in Insjon, Sweden to Fred and Hilda Berg. Berger was the youngest of three children with a brother Eric and a sister Hilda. He came to Chicago in 1926 where he lived for 59 years. During World War II Berger volunteered for naval service and spent three years in the U.S. Navy as an A & R Aviation Mechanic stationed in Corpus Christi. Here he met his wife Juanita Brock and had his only son, Alan. Berger then returned to the Chicago area and worked as a linotypist until his retirement in 1985. Berger then moved to his cottage on Dake Lake in Waupaca, WI until it became too difficult to live alone. At that time, he moved in with his son and daughter-in-law, Pamela, and it was in this home where he passed away late on Sunday night, May 5, 2019.

There will be a final gravesite service and burial with military honors at Central Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in King, WI on July 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences available at www.hollyfuneralhome.com

Burish, Jacob “Jake”

Jacob “Jake” W. Burish, age 88 of Clintonville passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 18, 2019 at the Greentree Health & Rehabilitation Center in Clintonville.

Jacob was born on April 5, 1931 in the Town of Spruce, Oconto County to the late Jacob J. and Anna (Tienor) Burish. He attended grade school in the Town of Spruce and graduated from Oconto Falls High School in 1948. Jacob farmed locally until he moved to Two Rivers in 1952 where he worked for Mirro Aluminum for over 6 years. In April of 1959 he moved back up north where he bought a farm in the Town of Underhill, Oconto County; farming there for the next 32 years. Jacob sold the farm in 1991 and shortly after moved to Clintonville where he worked for FWD Seagrave as a security guard until his retirement in 1996. If you knew Jacob, you knew he had the gift of gab. One of his favorite topics was religion. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville where he served as an usher for a period of time.

Survivors include: his brother, Donald (Mary) Burish, Kaukauna; sister, Emma Burish, Shawano; also, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances. Jacob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Francis; sisters: Marie, Alice, Annie, Rosie, and Delores, and also by a special niece Rosie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Jacob at 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019 at St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with Fr. Jack Mullarkey and Deacon Lincoln Wood officiating. Interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in the Town of Spruce, Oconto County. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Margaret Ann “Peggy” Freiburger, age 61 of New London, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at ThedaCare in Appleton.

Peggy was born on April 2, 1958 in New London to the late Michael and Barbara (Fischer) Loughrin. She was united in marriage to Paul Freiburger on June 24, 1977. Peggy formerly ran a business, Peggy’s Playhouse, selling toys on E-Bay. She loved being by the water. Peggy was very active in pro-life causes and was formerly a leader of Heartbeat Teens Pro-Life Group in Fond du Lac. A major source of Peggy’s happiness was time spent with her friends at ladies swim group called the Mermaids.

Peg is survived by her husband Paul; son Calvin, Appleton; sisters: Patty (Jim) DeGoey, New London; Debbie (Pete) Soto, New London; Lori (Todd) Barrington, New London; brothers: Michael Jr. “Pup” Loughrin, New London; Terry (Debbie) Loughrin, Bluegrass, Iowa; Jerry (Cindy) Loughrin, Manawa; Dave (Corinna) Loughrin; Manawa, and Matt (Sue) Loughrin, Manawa. She is further survived by a special Aunt Diane Murphy, with whom she had a very special friendship, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Peter Loughrin.

The funeral service for Peggy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in the Town of Lebanon with Fr. John Kleinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Thursday. Valerie L. Hodgden, 88, of Peoria, Arizona passed away June 18, 2019.

Valerie was born in Weyauwega, Wisconsin to Erich and Lillian Schmoldt. She married Robert L. Hodgden January 1, 1952 in Fremont Wisconsin, they were married 63 years. An Arizona resident since 1980, she was a member of Apostles Lutheran Church. She lived a life of faith and was very involved with LWML. She really enjoyed baking and cooking. She was always ready to go anywhere! She handed down her love of swimming and ice cream to her family. Valerie loved her family with all her heart and soul.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on April 16, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her infant son Thomas and brothers: Ronald (Betty), Arden, Nolan and Daniel Schmoldt; sisters-in-law, Betty (Ole) Olson, Audrey (Jerry) Fraedrich. She is survived by children: Kathryn (Richard) Bleier, Big Falls, WI; Kenneth (Mary) Hodgden, Seymour WI; Russell (Lynn) Hodgden, Glendale, AZ; Rhonda (Thomas) Brown, LaPorte, IN; nine grandchildren: Heather (Tim) Reinemann, Heidi (Jared) Dalberg, Holly (Roger) Tice, Kaitlin Hodgden, Lisa Hodgden, Heather (Rev. Philip) Robarge, Jeff (Sarah) Hughes, Ericka (Ryan) Brockhaus and Joshua Fronczak; four great-grandchildren: Laura (Rev. Ryan) Drevlow, Kaitlyn Robarge, Tyson Robarge, Alexander Brockhaus; four great-great-grandchildren: Gracelynn, Joy, Moses and Esther Drevlow. Valerie is also survived by her brother Roger (Marion) Schmoldt, sister Dorothy (Vern) Otto, sisters-in-law, Betty Schmoldt and Kathleen Schmoldt.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday June 25, 2019 at Apostles Lutheran Church, 7020 W. Cactus Rd., Peoria, Arizona. Interment to follow at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. In lieu of flowers the family of Valerie Hodgden suggest memorials to Apostles Lutheran Church. Special thank you to Valerie’s caregivers at The Inn at Amethyst and Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion shown her.

Christoph, Geraldine “Gerry”

Geraldine “Gerry” B. Christoph, 87, Green Bay, was born into eternal life on Sunday, June 16, 2019.

She was born on July 6, 1931 in Waupaca to the late Gerald and Florence (Bradway) Barrington. Gerry was a graduate of Waupaca High School and UW-Madison with a degree in Physical Education. On August 1, 1953 she married James Christoph at Waupaca Methodist Church in Waupaca. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2014. Gerry served on many church committees at both the local and state levels of the United Methodist Women’s Fellowship. She was on the board of the Christian Women’s Club and the YWCA. Gerry was a lay speaker for the church and travelled to share her love of Christ with others. She was also an active member of the P.E.O. Chapter BS. Gerry loved sports, especially playing tennis, golf and bowling. She was an ardent Badgers and Packers fan. Gerry and Jim had a passion for supporting local charities. Gerry was a devoted supporter of her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Christoph-Villwock; son, Richard Christoph; grandchildren, Matthew Villwock and David Villwock and Cady Cavin and their children, Maylene and Alek Villwock; and many relatives and friends.

Services were held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at First United Methodist Church in Green Bay. Proko-Wall Funeral Home assisted the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowalll.com. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be directed to Bellin College Scholarships and Rawhide Boys Ranch.
